A man reportedly on day release from hospital with medical conditions has been in an altercation with another man who has been seriously burnt. The victim, John McLaughlan who is affectionately known as “Little John” has been taken to Wythenshawe hospital, our thoughts and prayers go out to him and his family.
The fire assault occured on Fairfield Road at a set of flats half way up Fairfield Road (as pictured by us shortly after the incident below).
Officers are currently making attempts to arrest a suspect who is described as “a man in his twenties”. A police spokesperson has said “There is no risk to the public.”
Police have confirmed that the man injured in the Fairfield Road incident has been taken to Wythenshawe Hospital with serious injuries.
Many emergency vehicles have been at the scene since the incident including various Police, CID a Fire Engine and a Fire Investigation dog unit. Police have said the incident follows an altercation on Fairfield Road in which one person was injured.
At the time traffic around Buxton’s main roads and in particular the A6 was very slow but traffic is returning to normal. Market Street and South Street have been closed in connection with the incident.
